Summer Term!

Hello and welcome to Class 2's page

This half term our topic is chocolate, we are going to be designing and making our own chocolate product mmmmmmmmmmm!

So far this term has been very busy. On Tuesday 16th June we went on our school trip to Magna. Here we investigated how different forces work, we had a great time making our own rockets from vinegar and baking soda. Then in the afternoon we all got soaked in the Aquatek. Last Friday was our Summer Fair, we designed and made our own games for people to come along and have a go at, thank you to everyone who did come along to support us. This week we will be announcing the winner of 'guess my name'. Fingers crossed, it could be you!

Still to come..............
Story telling with parents
This Wednesday we are inviting parents and carers to come along to a story telling session based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It is taking place from 9.00am until 11.00am. Please let Miss Coles know if you can make it.

Sports day
It is our annual sport's day this Thursday from 10.30am on the school field, let's hope the sun is still shining.

Leaver's assembly
Very soon we will be leaving year 2 to go to juniors, last week all the children met their new teacher. But before we go we will be having an end of year assembly to celebrate some of the learning we have done year 2. We would love for everyone's parents to come along; watch out for your invite.

First Post!!

This term all the children in Year 2 have been learning and thinking about ourselves and our future. During our Class assembly we took the audience on a journey, we visited our past, we discussed the present and then we travelled into 2020 where we thought about our future aspirations!

I wonder what we will grow up to be?

"I want to be a fireman so I need to try hard with my learning" Lewis.

"I would like to be a teacher when I get bigger so I need to listen carefully and always try me best" Taylor.

In our number work we have been trying hard to learn the 2, 5, and 10 x tables. We have also tried very hard to solve number problems using all four of the calculation operations: x + - ÷ . In our reading diaries you can have a look at our learning targets for numeracy as well as finding our targets for writing and reading. Miss Coles adds in these targets each half term, during this time we get time to use reflecto to help us to add our own learning target. Why don't you take a look?

SHOCK HORROR!!!!!!!

After October half term we found out that The Jolly Postman's sack had been stolen.............
So, we decided to help the Jolly Postman try to find his letters. We thought about who we thought had stolen it and why. Weeks later following a police enquiry we found out that a man named Burglar Bill had stolen it and the reason....... he wanted to read everyone's letters because he is nosy. We then wrote to the Jolly Postman to let him know what had happened.
Look at our Good Work Wall, aren't we fanastic? In Class 2 we try hard with all our learning and we use the key learning skills of problem solving, resilience, thinking, communicating, reflection and working with others to make our learning even more special. Key skills are something most schools in our area are working on. It is important that children develop these skills during their time at school as they will help them throughout life.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our web page, we hope you will continue to logon and check out all the super things we get upto in Class 2.

We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

From Class 2, Miss Coles, Mrs Machin and Mrs Howells.
